The Combat of Shrimp Magicality


Magical greetings! 

Over the last few months, we have been working on implementing Shrimp Magicality’s combat system. Since starting this project, we had been experimenting with different types of combat such as turn-based or grid-based strategy. After sometime, we decided while those were our preferences, it was not conducive to the short, single-player experience that we wanted for Shrimp Magicality. 

Given the length of the game, we realized there were not a lot of opportunities for mechanical character development. At worse, it could have lead players on to thinking it was a longer-term game. The beat em up with RPG elements was a better fit for the roller coaster ride.
